| Farbfoto Tiger in Galizien
I didn´t know the location of this Tiger so far so thanks for your post!
Abteilung 505 was not far away from 506 but in fact not in Galizien. 506 was in Galizien for a short time on early April 44.
The Tiger on the photo could be one of the 505 too, but the problem is we didn´t find here any of the typical 505 unit modifications.
A typical late 505 Tiger I looks like this:
We have the knight on the turret side an very important here for our research, the turret number on the mantlet of the maingun!
Another 505 modification on 505 late Tigers I are these cutouts on the commanders hatch:
Non of this features is seen on our Tiger in Galizien! The Landscape and village/houses looks more like we know it allready from some other pics of 506.
The photo in question did show also a river in the background.
So it could be taken at one of the many river crossings 506 had to do in Galizien like we know it from the next pic for eg.
Finaly here again a look of the numbering style of 506 Tigers
I guess on the Tiger in Galizien we would find a 506 number behind the two tankers who are sitting on the turret.
It is all in all more convincing that we see one of the 506 steelwheelers here on the colour pic.
