1) The long, straight road that looks wide enough to be an important one.
2) The tank was surely just put laying this way by a couple of bulldozers, you can see the earth moved by their tracks in the background. Try also to think about a picture of the tank in the middle of this road just after the fighting.
3) The plain terrain and the hills in the background cannot exclude neither Emilia nor Tuscany.
Sorry Chris, but I this morning had Cori in my mind, and through a simple streetview action I had the confirmation. That's the big house just south of the village, that is still two-colored left/right!
So, that's just another one of 508! Lucky them to have pics everywhere, my 504's are very much harder to find! ;-)
Anyway, what you see as "flag holders" are the ends of metal rod used to strenghten old brick houses here in Italy. They just keep the walls together, and at the end there is an oblique metal plaque to distribute the pressure. I don't know the exact name in english.
